About the meeting 

The plate tectonics plays important roles in the early earth tectono-thermal evolution and the mineralization of iron, gold, zinc, copper, lead and etc. However, when did the plate tectonics began on this planet and how did they run are still under the most heated debates in Earth Sciences. Since the report of >1.8 Ga high-pressure (HP) granulite and retrograde eclogite from the North China Craton (NCC) in 1990s, more studies have been stimulated and lots of infusive achievement have been obtained in this field. Prof. Zhai Mingguo also organized the Penrose Conference in 2002 with the topic on HT (high-temperature)-HP (high-temperature) granulite. After that, a large number of research projects related to the NCC were funded by the natural science foundation, greatly promoting the research process in this field. 

Three types of granulites (mafic granulite, pelitic granulite and ultramafic granulite) are paragenetic outcrops in the Jiaobei Terrane, northern Shandong Peninsula, NCC, constituting the unique metamorphic terrane in the world. Previous researches have been focused on their distributions, ages of protolith and metamorphisms, metamorphism-deformation history and tectonic mechanism. Nevertheless, there are still more unknown and debates. Now, the IGGCAS will organize this workshop (23 – 30 Oct. 2018), in order to further refine the key scientific objective of "Metamorphic-magmatic Evolution and Tectonic Regime in the Early Precambrian", to exchange the research frontier, and to explore the regime of early earth plate tectonics.

The workshop is composed of meeting and field excursion after that. The meeting will be held by oral presentations and discussion. Special topic will be arranged according to the number of attendees with theses submitted. The workshop language is English. The details are as follows:  

1. Meeting: 24 - 25 October, 2018 

There will be 25 minutes for invited presentations including following discussion, and 20 minutes for general presentations including following discussion. 

2. Post-meeting field excursion: 26 - 29 October, 2018 

The occurrence and contact relationships of mafic granulite, pelitic granulite and ultramafic granulite in Qixia-Laiyang-Laixi in Shandong Province will be investigated. 

3. Return time: 30 October, 2018

Delegates who choose to arrive in Beijing are suggested to live in Grand Hotel Yuanshan, we will pick up you at 7：00 Am, 23 Oct. 2018, and then leave Beijing to Laiyang City by bus (about 8 hours' journey). Please inform us your flight information one week in advance (before 15 Oct. 2018).

The format of each abstract must follow the template instruction in the attachment. Each abstract is limited to 1-2 A4 page. The abstracts will be published on《Land and Resources in Shandong Province》.
